Twenty-five years ago, Language World began as an intrepid idea brought to life in a rented garage. Today, we proudly stand among California’s premier language access providers. Our journey has been fueled by an unwavering commitment to excellence and a passion for human-centered, linguistic solutions. This dedication has earned us the trust of clients in healthcare, education, and social services, where we deliver innovative, tailored solutions to meet diverse needs.

Throughout this journey, we’ve had the honor of collaborating with remarkable clients, including the Presidents of Mexico and Chile, leading academic pioneers, and international delegations from across the globe. Each partnership has inspired us to grow and reaffirm our mission of bridging language barriers and connecting communities.

Spanish World, LLC is founded, later renamed Language World Services, Inc.

Fluency, Inc.

Spun-off our in-house custom scheduling platform into a separate company, Fluency, Inc. to license a HIPAA-compliant SaaS agency platform and Interpreter App for interpreting agencies, hospitals non-profits nationally.

MITI Test

First online validated linguistic assessment available to the medical interpreter (MITI Test).

Interpreting Breakthroughs

Independent to W-2 Interpreters
Transitioned all Independent Contract interpreters to W-2 employees a first for a California based on-site, spoken language interpreting agency.

 

Fluency Chosen as Key Vendor for Bay Area’s First Multi-Payor Interpreting Network
Fluency, Inc. selected as the primary vendor to establish the Bay Area’s first regional, multi-payor network for on-site spoken language interpreting in partnership with Alameda County, and the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association.

Award-Winning PSA

Producer of the world-famous Interpreters Save Lives Public Service Announcement, a national ADDY Award-winning public awareness ad that has been utilized worldwide for teaching and public education purposes.

Growth & Impact

VRI Call Center
Opened Video Remote Interpreting call center in Sacramento – to provide overflow Spanish language interpreters to the Health Care Interpreting Network of nationally recognized hospitals.

 

Language World Learns
Launch of Language World Learns – fully interactive online training center currently with 50 hours of available CEU’s.

Staffing Solutions

Pioneered sourcing, and staffing of full-time/part-time shift workers for UCSF Hospital and Clinics and Children’s Hospital Oakland.

VRI Call Center

Opened state-of-the-art 21-seat VRI call center in Sacramento.

Collaboration & Technology

Partnered with American River College to offer preceptorships to students enrolled in the Healthcare Interpreting Program.

Deployed cutting-edge Twilio-enabled technology to deliver and manage remote video and telephonic modalities.

ASTM F3130-18 Certification

Received ASTM F3130-18 Certification, an elite distinction achieved by only three language agencies.

Boostlingo Network

Approved as a Boostlingo Professional Interpreter Network Member to fulfill overflow volumes.

California DHCS Interpreter Pilot Project

Awarded California State Department of Health Care Services Interpreter Pilot Project to create a unique pilot program that seeks to understand the nature of on-site and remotely delivered health care interpreting services throughout the state.

HQ & VRI Expansion

Relocated in Rancho Cordova, CA to unify operations and expand the VRI call center with updated technologies.

Language World’s Dual Celebration

Nominated as one of Sacramento’s Best Places to Work for 2023!

Human-True Translation Platform

Launched innovated translation platform to securely access multiple neural networks, generate linguistic assets and afford clients the ability to submit, track and view payments for translation projects.
