My highest achievement was becoming a Quality Assurance Coach in the Bay Area and being recognized as a Proctor for the CCHI Oral and Written Exam. It was gratifying to see interpreters I had mentored succeed. – Estela R.
Language World significantly contributed to my professional growth through its detailed training program. The step-by-step approach, beginning with protocol learning, ethical principles, and practical role-playing with experienced interpreters, was invaluable. As a new interpreter, Language World provided an enriching environment where we could collaborate, share experiences, ask questions and learn from seasoned professionals.
One standout feature was witnessing interpreters evolve from newcomers to certified mentors, thanks to Language World’s mentorship program. It offered guidance, constructive feedback, and the opportunity to shadow experienced interpreters in diverse assignments.
Language World’s established path to success encompassed comprehensive training, continuing education, and participation in events like CHIA conferences. They supported interpreters by covering certification costs and facilitating avenues for higher compensation.

Even today, I continue to mentor ad-hoc interpreters, with several achieving certification. I’m thankful to Bill and Language World for the opportunities and growth they’ve provided throughout the years.

My time at Language World has been instrumental in applying my interpreting skills beyond the workplace. – Sergey M.
After leaving Language World, I transitioned as a report writer at a medical gas company for 5 years before transitioning to my current role at the Department of Health Care Services as an Associate Governmental Program Analyst, specializing in Quality Assurance for the Behavioral Health Division. I am happy here and I am learning lots of new skills regularly.
My time at Language World has been instrumental in applying my interpreting skills beyond the workplace. I’ve assisted my mother in her medical appointments due to her limited English proficiency and regularly volunteered at my local church, interpreting for American attendees, who were grateful for the service I provided.
Language World has influenced me positively. It expanded my cultural knowledge, fostering an appreciation for diversity and eliminating biases. This transformation has driven my interest in exploring various cultures, leading me to travel extensively, including visits to Europe, the Middle East, Central America, and most recently, a Spanish-speaking country in the Northern Caribbean Sea.

I firmly believe in the significance of excelling in this role because people’s lives depend on clear and accurate communication between patients and medical staff. – Susana T.
Almost immediately after becoming certified as a Healthcare Interpreter by American River College, I joined Language World. This opportunity allowed me to interpret for patients and providers nationwide, exposing me to diverse and often challenging situations daily. Working at Language World isn’t easy; it’s demanding. However, that challenge was instrumental in shaping the professional I am today. I didn’t pursue a career in medical interpreting for an easy job; my motivation was to assist the Hispanic community. I firmly believe in the significance of excelling in this role because people’s lives depend on clear and accurate communication between patients and medical staff.

I look forward to the possibility of rejoining your team, I would be very happy to work for you again. – Uiko T.
During the pandemic, I renewed my medical interpreter certificate (CCHI) and successfully completed the additional performance test, a requirement for all languages, with a high score. I’ve remained an active certified medical interpreter in the Bay Area, primarily in Oakland, San Francisco, and more recently, the Sacramento area.
I’m currently working as an in-house Japanese interpreter at a manufacturing company, where simultaneous interpretation is required for all meetings. This role has been demanding but has significantly enhanced my skills in both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation in just one month. I look forward to the possibility of rejoining your team, I would be very happy to work for you again.
